[Deadline Dec 02, 2013] Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme 2014-15 – Call for applications for pursuing PhD stud


We have pleasure in enclosing an e-poster regarding the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme, and would like to take this opportunity to introduce to you City University of Hong Kong.
City University of Hong Kong in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) is a modern, hi-tech institution committed to providing a quality learning environment for its students and the community. It has an outstanding team of academics undertaking applied research dedicated to advancing knowledge to benefit society and the region. According to the latest league tables published by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), CityU ranked 12th among the Asian’s top 100 universities in 2013.


Hong Kong PhD Fellowship, established by The Research Grants Council (RGC) of the HKSAR, aims at recruiting the best and brightest students in the world to pursue PhD study in Hong Kong. The Fellowship provides a monthly stipend of HK$20,000 (~US$2,600), and conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$10,000 (~US$1,300) per year for the awardees for a maximum of three years. In addition, Fellowship recipients at CityU will be awarded the “Chow Yei Ching School of Graduate Studies Entrance Scholarship”, which covers students' first year tuition and on-campus hostel accommodation fees.
The key milestones are as follows:

2 December 2013
(by 12:00:00 GMT+8 hours) Deadline for submitting initial application to the RGC and obtain a reference number by applicants.
10 December 2013 Deadline for submitting full application to CityU through CityU’s Online Admission System.

Early March 2014 Notification of results by the RGC
